it’s good for soft food, like avacado, banana; but it can not handle even apple, cooked broccoli. You have to remove the cover from time to time to loose the food and then keep pressing and turning.
I’m using blander now to produce a large quantity of baby food and then store it in the freezer. I use this mill only when I need to puree some soft fruit right before feeding.

The KidCo Baby Food Makerand Mill is great for making one or two meals at at time. Food must be VERY soft and usually warm with a little extra water to help it puree smoothly. Make sure you peel everything!
Don’t waist your money on the green tote. It’s very cheap and you can just as easily keep the mill in a 1 or 2 gallon zip lock bag if you can find it sold separately! The clasp on the tote is ridiculous, and with a few bends back and forth it would snap off.
Short assembly instructions were included, however there were no tips or suggestions on how to prepare food with mill. The dishwasher does a terrific job of cleaning the mill itself, but you must rinse food off ‘blade’ part. Some foods (carrots, sweet potato) will stain the white plastic, so if you’re not sure if you’re going to keep try banana or apples first.
All in all, this is a great product when visiting relatives or traveling, so long as you can steam food first. If you are making puree in bulk you may be much happier buying a mini- food processor you can keep on your cabinet at home. Good ones run $30 and up.

It is hard to turn the crank to get the food to go through. Also, the piece that the food goes through is plastic. Very cheap. Not metal like the one we were trying to replace. It works ok, but it is not like what we had hoped.

I bought this item for a friend’s new baby because we bought our baby food grinder over 40 years ago, used it for all four of our children, and it still works. We never bought ‘baby food.’ It’s easy to use, cleans easily, and allows you to start your baby on the very same healthy foods you eat.
