If you are interested in purchasing a mortal and pestle, and wish to use it for anything, do not purchase this item… it is only meant to be decorative… I learned the hard way after washing it and the paint wore away… a beautiful little set, but only that.

It is pretty, but small and doesn’t work very well. You would be better off getting a little bigger one that is heavier. The wood doesn’t seem to be a very effective crushing tool.

I bought this, and I know I’m only going to use it for decoration because the colors are so beautiful…I would never forgive myself if I messes it up. I was surprised when my 25 year old son commented that it was pretty. I have others, and for the price you can’t beat this.

Very pretty but smaller than I expected. I don’t think it was 3 inches. It was a gift, the receiver was happy
